Amazingly intricate details combine the sleek body of a snake with the revered, protective essence of the naga (dragon). In Balinese mythology the dragon is guardian of the gods. Banda is the name of a particular snake of legend, said to possess supernatural powers and told by God to protect the Kanda Tiga temple.
From the wings on his back to the scales on his body, this dragon carving really is a superb and beautifully piece wall plaque, created from a single piece of warm suar wood (a tropical hardwood), taken from sustainable forests by the world famous wood carvers of Ubud in Bali.
Once the carving is finished, the wood is then sanded, oiled and polished by the world famous Balinese wood carvers. And, like all products imported by the Buddha of Plenty, this dragon carving has been made specifically for us on a Fair-Trade basis.
