The Kalimba, which originated in Africa, is played by plucking the metal keys with your thumbs, hence its more popular name of thumb piano. Anyone can pick one of these instruments up to produce delightful sounds, and like all musical items, the more you play it the better it sounds! This instrument can be tuned, and is made from cpolished coconut with a painted wooden top.
This is a nicely finished and decorative instrument, which also sounds great - and for those who wish to master the full instrument, we also stock the more professional 12 key thumb piano, used in gamelan orchestras.
