An amazingly
detailed carving, hand carved from hibiscus wood taken from sustainable forests,
and then sanded and polished to a beautiful finish, by the world famous wood
carvers of Mas in Bali.
One of many
ceremonial dances, the Janger dance is actually the only one performed by both
men and women together - twelve men dance in a somewhat aggressive manner as
the women sway from side to side as they sing. This detailed carving of a Janger
dancer is an extraordinary tribute to the beauty of both the dance and the dancer.
The elaborate headdress is carved with meticulous detail - crowning the poised
expression of a dancer who evokes pride in Balinese tradition.
