An amazingly detailed mask, hand carved from hibiscus wood taken from sustainable forests, and then sanded and polished to an incredible finish, by the world famous wood carvers of Ubud in Bali.
Goddess Sri symbolizes fertility and oversees the planting of rice shoots, and in ancient Balinese, her name is referring to Ibu Pertiwi, or Mother Earth. In Bali, where the main staple is rice, Dewi Sri (more commonly known as Cili), is highly revered, frequently worshipped, and the Balinese make offerings to her in order to assure an abundant and successful rice harvest. The bursting flowers of her headdress symbolise fecundity, while her peaceful image inspires confidence - this really is a truly remarkable carving, and it is impossible to look at, without thinking of the skill that has gone into it.
