If we were going to showcase one specific type of carving, as a demonstration of the skills employed by our wooden artists, we would use one of our 3-D wall carvings. Only the most experienced carvers attempt these, as one slip of the knife and the whole plaque is ruined. Incredibly meticulous, beautiful and detailed, these Ganesh wall hangings are quite simply stunning.
Lord Ganesh is the most beloved and revered of all the Hindu gods, and is always invoked first in any Hindu ceremony. There are many stories about how Ganesh received his elephant head, but the most familiar is that he was created as an ordinary boy, but was decapitated in battle. Shiva's emissaries were sent into the forest and told to get the head of the first animal they found and to fit that head onto the boy's neck.
This 3-D carving has been created specifically for the Buddha of Plenty - we are a mass-produced free zone!
