This truly amazing mask, comes from the Indonesian island of Lombok, and is known as a Batik mask. The alabesia wood, is first of all skillfully carved (a mastery for which the artists of Lombok are renowned), and then a piece of hand-printed cloth (called batik) is added to the mask. Patterns and designs are carved into the wood, texture is then added (all by hand), and finally the mask is painted - each one is incredibly individual, and as such, the images here are of the actual mask you will receive.
