This stunning wall mask has been elaborately hand carved in a traditional design from a single piece of selected jempinis wood, taken from sustainable forests by the world famous wood carvers of Ubud in Bali, and, like all the wooden products imported by the Buddha of Plenty, has been made to order specifically for us.
Known as Barong, the Indonesian people believe this is a benevolent deity who can evict the devil. Barong masks are usually hung at the entrance gate of temples, and they are also a critical part of the Barong dance, one of Bali's most important religious traditions.
